Los premios Oscar

Hoy se llevará a cabo la 84 edición de los Oscar, una de las premiaciones más esperadas por las celebridades de la industria del cine mundial. La ceremonia será conducida por el reconocido comediante Billy Cystal. Se espera que el actor no repita el fracaso que ocurrió el año pasado con los anfitriones Anne Hathaway y James Franco.

 

Todas las miradas están puestas en la película francesa The artist (de Michael Hazanavicius) y Hugo (de Martin Scorsese), que tienen mayor cantidad de nominaciones. Los títulos compiten como mejor película,  junto a War Horse, Moneyball, The Descendants, Midnight in Paris, The Help, The Tree of Life, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.

 

Hugo es una fábula infantil en el París de los años 30 que le rinde tributo a los albores del cine en Francia y tiene 11 nominaciones. Mientras que The artist es una cinta muda en blanco y negro, que es realizada con el lenguaje narrativo del cine de los años 20 y cuenta con 10 postulaciones.

 

Otro de los duelos de la noche será por la categoría mejor actriz. Muchos apuestan por Meryl Streep, quien fue nominada por su papel en Margaret Thatcher en The Iron Lady. Esta es la 17ª nominación al Oscar, en sus más de 60 películas.

 

La competencia más fuerte de Streep es la actriz Viola Davis, quien ya ha ganado varios premios por su papel de criada en The Help. También están en la terna Rooney Mara (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo), Michelle Williams (My Week With Marilyn) y Glenn Close (Albert Nobbs).

 

Demin Bichir, nominado a mejor actor por el drama A Better Life, quiere convertirse en el segundo mexicano que gane el Oscar luego de Anthony Quinn en 1957. Pero será una terna muy difícil ya que están nominados grandes estrellas como George Clooney (The Descendants), Brad Pitt por (Moneyball),  Jean Dujardin (The artist) y Gary Oldman (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy).

 

Como mejores actor y actriz de reparto, los preferidos son Christopher Plummer (Beginners) y Octavia Spencer (The Help). También integra la lista, Bérénice Bejo, una actriz francoargentina, que participó en la película The artist.

 

En cuanto a la categoría como mejor película extranjera, las apuestan apuntan a la cinta iraní Nader and Simin: A Separation, que ha sido galardonada ya en todo el mundo. Competirá  contra Bullhead (Bélgica), Footnote (Israel), In Darkness (Polonia) y Monsieur Lazzard (Canadá).
Cabe destacar que asistirán a la ceremonia ganadores del premio del año pasado como Natalie Portman, Colin Firth, Christian Bale y Melissa Leo, adem s de otras estrellas como Halle Berry, Tom Cruise, Pen‚lope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Tom Hanks, Ben Stiller, Bradley Cooper, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lopez y Emma Stone, entre otros.
